September 11, 2001 Attacks Continue to Fuel Conspiracy Theories

On September 11, 2001, the United States has witnessed one of the deadliest terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda, targeting the World Trade Center towers in New York and the Pentagon building in Washington, D.C.

 Although 20 years have passed since this bloody event, conspiracy theories persist, particularly about the identity of the attackers, with a growing spread of fake news on the internet and social media sites.

Despite hundreds of investigations and information leaked over two decades, the documents to be released over the next six months could carry many shocking surprises.

Biden noted that the declassification should take effect in the next six months

“We must never forget the constant pain of killing 2977 innocent people during the worst terrorist attack against America in our history,” Biden added

What does declassification mean?

Declassifying the September 11 documents may reveal new information regarding the nature of the mechanism and timing of the attacks. As well as the ability of U.S. intelligence agencies to deal with them.

Some US political forces are currently exerting maximum pressure on President Joe Biden to re-investigate the case. Particularly considering ongoing demands by the victims’ families to re-investigate and reveal accurate and detailed information about the incident.

The information will not carry radical information but will reveal several facts about the operation itself and the events that coincided with it, and how the CIA managed this file.

Why the information kept secret for two decades?

That information was kept secret due to its fundamental files as related to US national security.

There are some laws that force to keep the secrecy of this type of information which may extend to twenty years depending on their relevance.

Even after the disclosure of the secrecy, there would be a coup about the nature of what happened. Perhaps the information would reveal and acknowledge the failure that occurred on the part of US intelligence in dealing with the attack.
