Water is the basis for the beginning of life on the planet, the basis for its existence and continuation, and it is one of the most important necessities of life. Where there is water, life thrives. And without water, there are no manifestations of life, and Allah has made it clear The importance of water for the life of beings on the face of the earth in His saying,

“We made from water every living thing, will they not believe”
 (Surat Al-Anbiya, Verse 30).

Water is one of the life secrets for all beings. And cell science proved that water is an important component of living cell material. For an adult person, water forms 70 to 90% of his total body, while for an elderly person. While water forms 65 to 70% of his body, the percentage of water in the body of newborns is from 85 to 90% of their bodies. The cells of the body without water cannot obtain food or expel waste from the body.

Manifestations of Islam’s interest in water

A reminder of the importance of seas and rivers for life

Allah places under the control of man the waters of lakes, rivers, and seas to benefit from them. Because it contains many good deeds, and Allah has affirmed in many Qur’anic verses the importance of this blessing. And he also called man to preserve it and benefit from it without any waste. He also mentioned the importance of water for the different living creatures that is, humans, animals, and plants because their existence is closely related to the existence of water.

Preserve water and protect it from pollution

Allah also urged the preservation of the water environment and its protection from pollution and everything that changes its nature and suitability for use. So that the water remains pure and clean as revealed by the Creator. So senses can keep enjoying the water and the souls keep enjoying it free from everything that harms or harms a person, animal, or the plant

And Allah Almighty says: “We sent down from the sky blessed water” (Qaf 50: 9).

Water means good and in it, everything grows. With it, the souls are preserved from illness and serious diseases that hinder their life path and stop their lives on earth.

Preventing excessive use of water

Allah – the Almighty – has permitted his servants to enjoy eating, drinking, dressing, and adorning themselves. But he didn’t leave the matter without restrictions Allah said ” O children of Adam, take your adornment at every place. Eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess”

The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade excessive use of water in many noble hadiths. He said to Saad while he was performing ablution: “What is this extravagance, O Saad, and Saad asked: Is ablution an extravagance? He said: Yes, even if you are on a flowing river.”

The story of Zamzam- Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail water miracle, peace be upon them

Prophet Ibrahim married mother Hajra and when Prophet Ismail was born. Ibrahim migrated them and left them in the valley of Makkah by Allah’s command. It was a desolate place in which there was no planting or water. When Mrs.Hajar ran out of the water, she had nothing but to search for it. Running from Al-Safa to Al-Marwah seven times, she couldn’t find water, so she returned to her son sad. Believing that her son had passed away due to the intensity of thirst. But she found his feet hitting the ground, and the water sprang from between them. From that moment until today, the water kept flowing without stopping and it’s called Zamzam.

Water purity is a blessing from Allah Almighty

Allah Almighty praised His servants with another blessing, which is the purity of water. With water, everything is cleaned and dirt, pollutants, impurities, and filth are removed. The Almighty said: {And we sent clean water from the sky} [Al-Furqan: 48]

In the end, if the water is a great blessing from Allah, how can we deny and don’t preserve it? Why does a person tamper with the quantitative balance of water and overuse it?

In short, without water, there is no life. And with the increasing figures about polluted water, it’s very important to follow the Islamic instructions.
