For more than a week, the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has been experiencing clashes between Israeli police and Palestinian residents after tensions rose over the possible evacuation of Palestinian families from an area claimed by Israeli settlers.

“Palestinian families have a right to live in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood,” US Congresswoman Mary Newman tweeted.

Israel’s Iron Dome: how does it work and how effective is it?

The Iron Dome (Israeli missile shield) system intercepted 850 of the 1,000 rockets launched from Gaza while 200 managed to cause damages, according to the Israeli army.

Since when Israel has Iron Dome?

In April 2010, Israel’s state-of-the-art Defense Systems Limited company Rafael unveiled the “the Iron Dome” that could intercept short-range Katyusha rockets, many of which were fired at Israel by Lebanon’s Hezbollah during the 2006 war.

Egypt: Undermine the peace process

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed its condemnation of the Storming of the Aqsa mosque. Calling for an end to any practices that violate the sanctity of the blessed mosque, Muslims and Christians, the identity of the city of Jerusalem and its sanctities, and any change of the existing historical and legal situation.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, pointed to the need to reject the settlement policy in the Palestinian territories through the construction of new settlements, or confiscation of lands, or the displacement of Palestinians. The Kingdom affirmed its support for the Palestinians. As well as for all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian question that would enable the Palestinian people to establish their own independent state on the borders of 1967.
