Honor Your Father and Mother

Allah responded: (Worship Allah and associate nothing with him, and be good to parents), Surat al-Nisa. Islam requires us to honor our parents, to obey them, to respect their minds, and to be patient generally to our members of the family.

One of the foremost important notions for family life in Islam is understood as “upholding family bonds” (silat ar-Rahim). The Quran and Sunnah include many instructions for us to act well with our members of the family, albeit they’re atheists. Scholars have compiled these into many works demonstrating the value of strong family relations. In fact, Allah will keep relations with those that are suitable to their families and He will stop those that sever relations with their families.

(Will you then, if you got authority, spread corruption within the land and sever your family ties? (47:22))

And also Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace upon him, said: (Verily, Allah Almighty will raise the status of his righteous servants in Paradise and that they will say: O Lord, what’s this? Allah will say: this is often because of your child seeking forgiveness for you). Musnad Aḥmad 10232, Grade: Hasan

People wonder why kids have gotten so much more disrespectful these days

We see kids and teens disputing with adults (or neglecting them outright), utilizing odious language, copping an attitude, and not using methods or valuing those in authority. Sadly, this has become the standard for several children and teens. In my point of view, it truly is a different world proper now than the one we grew up in. Movies, video games, music, and television all appear to glorify a discourteous, angry, rude behavior of dealing with others. This means that in several ways we need to work harder as parents to teach our children to be respectful. Added to this is the fact that parents are too busier than ever before, which makes it much harder to respond promptly to our kids.

One Good Way to impress great manners in Kids is to read to them the guidelines from Quran and Stories from Hadeeths which talk about the right behavior towards Parents.

Why do you need to be dutiful to Parents?

Obedience to parents is from obedience to God

“And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you are dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor. ”Surah Al-Isra [17:23]

It is your responsibility to your parents As a child :

We always have a responsibility to our parents. We are to make sure that they are taken care of and as they age we are to see that their needs are met. Once you marry, your new wife also accepts this responsibility out of respect for you and your parents. And in turn you would do the same for her parents.

As a Parent, We should always make good Dua for our children and never curse them:

There is a hadeeth, Abu Hurayra stated that the Prophet, said, “There are three supplications which are answered:

The invocation of the person who is wronged, the invocation of the traveler, and the supplication of a parent for his child.

The story of the curse of Mother of Juraij:

Narrated Abu Huraira RA: Allah’s Prophet (ﷺ) stated, “a woman called her son while he was in his hermitage and stated: ‘O Juraij’ He said, ‘O Allah, my mother (is calling me) and (I am offering) my prayer (what shall I do)?’ She again said, ‘O Juraij!’ He said again, ‘O Allah! My mother (is calling me) and (I am offering) my prayer (what shall I do)?’ She again said, ‘O Juraij’ He again said, ‘O Allah! My mother (is calling me) and (I am offering) my prayer. (What shall I do?)’ She said, ‘O Allah! Do not let Juraij die till he sees the faces of prostitutes.

A shepherdess wont to come by his hermitage for grazing her sheep and she or he gave birth to a toddler. She was asked whose child that was, and she or he replied that it had been from Juraij which he had begun from his hermitage. Juraij said, ‘Where is that woman who declares that her child is from me?’ (When she was delivered to him alongside the child), Juraij asked the kid, ‘O Babus, who is your father?’ the kid replied, ‘The shepherd.’ ” (See Hadith No 662).

Allah cleared Juraij of the accusation of the Prostitute but the Curse of her mother was such it came to effect. So always take care.

  • So children reading this document are Dutiful to your Parents and never make them unsettled.
  • And if you’re a Parent, observe Dua for your Children and teach them amorously and with patience and tolerance.
