The Fajr prayer is one of the greatest and honorable virtues in our religion. How not as God has called it in Quran, as mentioned in Surah Al-Isra
"Observe Prayer at the declining and paling of the sun, on to the complete darkness (in diverse hours) of the night, and recite the Qur'ân at dawn. Verily, the regular recital (of the Qur'ân) at dawn is (especially) acceptable (to God) and witnessed (by the angels)." [Isra:78]
In Allah willing the Fajr prayer is a gathering of Angels, obedience, and worship, not attended but by only every purgatory of sin, who deserves to be in the hospitality of the merciful Allah.
The Angels of the night and the Angels of the day gather in the Morning Prayer
As narrated by Bukhari in his Sahih about Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with them about the Prophet, peace be upon him
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever performs ablution and then goes to the mosque and prays two rak’ahs before dawn and then sits until he prays dawn, his prayer on that day will be recorded as the prayer of the righteous, and he wrote in the delegation of Allah
Virtues of Fajr
Night prayer
The messenger of Allah, PBUH, said :
One who performs ‘Isha’ prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat for half of the night. And one who performs the Fajr prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat the whole night.”
As narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab may Allah be pleased with him said: praying Al-Fajr in congregation is dearer to me than praying a night.
Fajr prayer is a light for its owner on the day of judgment
Sahl ibn Sa’ad Al-Saadi, may Allah be pleased with him, said: the messenger of Allah said:
Give glad tiding to those who walk to the Masajid in the dark; of a complete light on the Day of Resurrection.
Fajr prayer is a shelter
Samra Ibn jandab, may Allah be pleased with him from the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
Whoever prays the Subh then he is under the protection of Allah’s covenant, so do not be treacherous with Allah in his covenant.”
He is in the vicinity of Allah, and what do you think of who was in the vicinity of Allah?! And you see people feel safe and secure when one of them is close and in a vicinity of powerful persons. What if he is in the vicinity of Allah?!. Indeed, he is safer.
In the Hadith of gandab bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
When anyone offers the Fajr (dawn) prayer, in congregation, he is in the Protection of Allah. So let not Allah call him to account, withdrawing, in any respect, His Protection. Because, He will get hold of him and throw him down on his face in the Hell-fire.”
Fajr prayer is a guarantee for Jannah
About Abu Musa narrated that the messenger of Allah (Mohammad) said:
He who observes the Fajr and ‘Asr (prayers) will enter Jannah.
Fajr prayer is a protection from fire
The messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:
“He who performs Salat (prayers) before the rising of the sun and before its setting, will not enter the Hell.”
Which is salat Al-fajr and salat Al-Asr
While the Fajr prayer has all the above virtues, not praying is a great sin.
Often people believe that there is a difference between 2 rak’a Fajr prayer and the 2 rak’a morning prayer.
And the truth is that there is no difference between the Fajr prayer and the morning prayer, both of which are one prayer.
Some mistakenly believed that the Fajr prayer before sunrise and the morning prayer is after sunrise, which is a misconception. The two rak’a morning prayers are insured Sunnah while two Fajr rak’a are Faridah.
However, the prayer after sunrise and before Dhuhr is Duha prayer, an optional prayer
